Here’s What Hospitality Venues Need to Know
Sevenoaks District Council has confirmed it will shut down its commercial waste service on 30 September 2025, after a strategic review of its rubbish and recycling operations. Existing business customers will be served until that date, but no new accounts are being accepted

Not a statutory service: Councils aren’t legally obliged to collect commercial waste, so Sevenoaks is reallocating resources elsewhere.
Tougher waste-separation laws: New regulations demand separate streams (glass, food, paper, etc.). The Council’s current contractor can’t guarantee full compliance.
Cost & carbon targets:Modernising the household service takes priority; axing trade rounds frees up budget and cuts fleet emissions.
All current trade-waste customers lose collections after 30 September 2025.
“Micro-firms” ( < 10 employees) have a government grace period on the new separation rules until 31 March 2027, but they still need a licensed carrier once the Council bows out.
Any business relying on weekly sack or bin lifts from Sevenoaks must line up a new provider now, before the busy autumn season arrives.
